e-gaming Championship gets underway

SRINAGAR, Jan 13: Kashmir valley today witnessed the first ever two day e-gaming event, Kashmir Cyber Games championship, in which more than 300 gamers participated to battle out for the top spot in two different formats of e-games including computer and console based games today.
Sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department and held at the Sangarmaal Shopping Complex, Srinagar, the event is being organized by the Loud Beetle- a private company to provide a bigger platform for the valley youth who have gained mastery in console and compute games including ‘Tekken-3 and Counter Strike’ respectively.
Director, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism, Talat Parvez, was the chief guest of the event; he said that these events should be repeatedly held as it would boost the IT sector in the state. “It is really good news that such events are being held in our state and we are ready to provide any sort of assistance for such kind of events as it would pave way for the IT sector in the state,” Parvez said.
Ahmer Khan, founder of Loud Beetle and organizer of the event said that the event would pave new ways of success for the Kashmiri gamers by ensuring their participation into the national and international cyber game championship.
Participants ranging from school to college going students who are skilled in Tekken-3 and Counter Strike rushed to the event to showcase their talent.
“I am playing Takken-3 from last 11 years and often my parents would not allow me to play these games. Such attempts are much needed in the valley as people here don’t have knowledge about these games. The Cyber Games Championship is being held everywhere and our state was lagging behind in these kinds of sports,” said student Asif Imran.
The 3 game winners would be given Rs 7000 as prize money while as the Counterstrike winner will get Rs 10, 000 as winning price.
