Bhalla launches Rs 25 lakh development works

JAMMU, Jan 13: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said peace is imperative for making Jammu and Kashmir a progressive and prosperous State and sought people’s cooperation to turn it into reality.
The Minister was addressing a gathering at Poly Hill Estate in Channi Rama, after launching construction work of two kilometer long nallah, costing Rs. 20 lakh here today.
The Minister said the project has been started and would be completed within stipulated time frame. He asked the officers to personally monitor the quality of work, adding that any laxity on the part of quality would not tolerate at any level.
Bhalla said that Government has earmarked Rs. 68 crore for up-gradation of Landoi Choi nallah from Jodhamal School to Gangyal, adding that the project would be started by ERA after immediately completing the tendering formalities.
Responding to the demands of Poly Hill Estates and Nidesh Enclave of Channi Rama areas, the Minister asked the R&B and JMC to prepare a detailed project report under their respective departments and submit the same for funding.
Regarding opening of new ration depot and matador service at Poly Hill Estates, Bhalla said the matter has been taken up with the CA&PD authorities for early action. He said Government was making all out efforts to develop all the new colonies with all basic amenities like drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare, improved power supply, educational facilities besides better lanes and drains.
Listing the measures taken by the Government in Channi Rama and its adjoining areas, the Minister said Rs. 38 lakh multipurpose hall has already dedicated to the people for their use. He said multipurpose community hall will benefit the people of Pamposh Colony, Channi Rama, Chinar Colony, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Bilal Colony, Shanker Colony, Rajput Mohalla for celebrating their social as well as religious functions by paying a nominal fee. He called upon the locals to protect the public property in their respective localities for their own interest.
The Minister asked officers to ensure accountability and transparency in utilization of funds available under various Centrally and State sponsored schemes for better infrastructural development of the State. He asked the officers to reach out people and ascertain and address their problems in a time bound manner.
Earlier, the Bhalla distributed Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) cheques to Below Poverty Line beneficiaries of Satwari block as financial assistance for construction of concrete house as first installment of Rs. 20,000 each.
Later, the Minister also visited Sanjay Nagar Sector-3 and kick started Rs. 5 lakh upgradation work of lanes and drains project.
