SAI Club, NIS, New Era emerge winners in women’s section

Jammu District Kho-Kho Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Sept 29: Defeating their rivals convincingly in the opening contests, Sai Club, NIS and New Era emerged winners in women’s section of Jammu District Kho-Kho Championship, which got underway at Green Field ground, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
In women’s section, SAI Club defeated Parade Club by 3 points (8-5), while NIS drubbed Akhnoor Club by 5 points (10-5) and New Era prevailed over Simbal Camp by 7 points (17-10)
In the men’s section, NIS trounced Bajrang Club by 1 point and 1 innings, New Era Club lost to Bhalwal Club by 3 points (7-4) and Parivartan Club outplayed Sunjwan Club by 5 points (10-5)
Treasurer Kho-Kho Federation of India S. B.S Tirthi was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony, who advised the players to play with sportsman spirit.
He also welcomed the District Clubs and Institutions and appreciated them for participation.
15 teams are participating in this tournament, the final matches of which will be played at 3 pm (women) and 4 pm (men) tomorrow.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Amrinder Singh and Vishal Malhotra. Prominent among others present on the occasion were General Secretary of the Association, Harjeet Singh, Gagan Kumar and Dalbir Mehta, observer from J&K State Sports Council.
The tournament is being organized in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council.
