Bhaderwah, Oct 3: In a step to further empower the women in the field of culture as well as sports activities, an Inter-Department Women T20 Cricket match was played between the B Ed 3rd and B Ed 1st semester at the Campus cricket ground, here.
First of its kind for women, the tournament was organised by State Cricket Academy in which as many as 14 teams participated.
Earlier, BEd 3rd semester won the toss and elected to field first.
In the stipulated 20 overs BEd 1st Semester scored 95 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Savita top scored with 35 runs, while Diksha took 4 wickets.
In reply, B Ed 3rd Semester chased 95 runs in 11 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Suman Sharma played brilliantly to top score with 53 runs.
Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof GM Bhat who was the chief guest on the
occasion congratulated both the teams for playing first ever T20 Women’s Crickets match at Bhaderwah Campus.
He extended thanks to the District Development Commissioner Doda, Simrandeep Singh for talking keen interest in promoting sports and cultural activities in district Doda.
