2-day State Bench Press Championship concludes

Anshuman, Sawan, Sakshi emerge best lifters

JAMMU, Oct 7: Two days J&K State Bench Press Unequipped and Equipped Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Master Men and Women Championship concluded at Amarnath Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, here.
The Championship was organized by All J&K State Power Lifting affiliated to Power Lifting India,under the observation of J&K Sports Council observer Inder Pal Singh (Weight Lifting coach) and Dalvir Mehta.
On the occasion, Senior BJP leader Aditi Sharma was the chief guest and Commonwealth Silver medallist, Veena Devi was the guest of honour, who distributed prizes and medals among the winners and the runners-up players. The Championship was sponsored by Absolute Nutrition, Any Time Fitness Gym and Galaxy Gym.
In this Championship, Anshuman Sharma and Sawan Kumar emerged best lifter in Men’s category by lifting 200 kg and 130 Kg respectively while Sakshi Koul emerged best lifter in Women’s category by lifting 60 Kg.
Around 250 players from various Districts of J&K including Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Srinagar and Budgam participated in the Championship, which was organized in a befitting way by Ajay Sharma, General Secretary of the Association; Rahul Sawhney, Senior Vice President ; Gulzar Singh and Vikram Singh Vice Presidents; Ravinder Sharma, Treasure; Sanjecv Singh and Adil Ashraf Khan, Joint Secretaries, besides Ajit Pal Singh Deepak Jyoti , Vinay Sharma, Suresh Pal, Hardeep singh, Sumit Gupta, Kamail Singh, Gourav Gupta and Shabeel Ahmad as the core team members.
In women’s category, the Gold Medals were bagged by Riya Sharma, Radha Kumari, Aditi Khurana, Richika Khajuria, Shakshi Koul, Apoorvi Sharnia, Sonakshi Tangri, Monika Sharnia, Akashi Raina, Necte lobar, Simran Bumrah, Juhi Gupta, Upsana Mahajan, Surbhi Bali, Khushi Wadchra and Divya Manhas, while Silver Medals went to Sunita Devi, Kashike Singh, Surbhi Bali, Rubi Shaima, Gurject Kour and Ruhi Saini and the Bronze Medals were claimed by Gurpreet Kour and Parul Sharma.
