J&K loses to TN despite Qamran Iqbal’s cracking ton

JAMMU, Oct 9: Talented opening batsman Qamran Iqbal scored a magnificent century (101) off 107 balls, studded with 8 fours and 4 sixes in a losing battle against Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament at Jaipur in Rajasthan today.
Earlier, put into bat J&K rode on a brilliant century by Qamran and scored a decent total of 227 runs in 49.5 overs. Skipper Vivrant Sharma and Jiyad Nazir Magray contributed 32 and 31 runs to the total respectively.
As per the reports reaching here, Qamran was in sublime touch and hit the ball with grace and fluidity to send the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt. From Tamil Nadu, R Sonu Yadav was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 important wickets by conceding 29 runs in 8.5 overs, Yazh Arun also took 3 wickets.
In reply, Tamil Nadu sailing on superb knocks from Pradosh Ranjan Paul (94) and Nidhish Rajagopal (58) reached the target in 48.3 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets. From Jammu and Kashmir, left-arm spinner Taizeem Younis Tak and speedster Mujtaba Yousuf took 2 wickets each, while seam bowler Aditya Chib and leg-spinner Govind Sharma shared one wicket each.
