HANOI, Jan 16: Vietnam last year recorded a trade surplus of $780 million, its first since 1993 and nearly triple the government’s initial estimate of a $284 million surplus, Vietnam’s customs said on Wednesday.
The country’s exports rose 18.2 percent in 2012 from 2011 to $114.6 billion while imports increased 6.6 percent to $113.8 billion, the Finance Ministry’s customs department said in a report.
