JAMMU, Oct 30: The 32nd Yoga Championship, organized by J&K Yoga Association concluded at Indoor Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
83 yoga players both boys and girls, who qualified in the districts Yoga Championships organized at Jammu, Rajouri, Udhampur and Reasi took part in the championship.
On the valedictory function, Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest, who awarded the winners with certificates and medals in the presence of Abhijit Jasrotia, Spokesperson PDP, who was guest of honour. Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma, Vice President Indian Olympic Association and General Secretary J&K Olympic Association was the special invitee.
Deepak Handa, President J&K Yoga Association and Vice-President of Yoga Federation of India, Surinder Pathak, General Secretary, Vinod Bhatia Associate Secretary, Anil Gupta Chief Coach, Rajinder Koul, Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Stadium, Mohammad Salman, Ashwani Katoch, Surinder Kumar, Mukesh Sharma, Harinder Singh and Vishal Kumar were also present on the occasion.
The championship was officiated by Mukesh Sharma, Vishal Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Harinder Singh, Ritu Chib, Vishu Sharma, Surinder Kumar, Mohammad Salman, Dayal Ram, Ashwani Katoch from Reasi.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that yoga has gained importance allover the world and every individual is practicing yoga to keep himself physically fit, mentally alert, socially sound and spiritually pious. He urged the parents of the players who had accompanied their wards to give more stress on yoga. He also promised to provide Yoga Hall to the Association.
In 8 to 11 years girls, Tejasvi Jamwal, Aakriti and Parima Sharma bagged Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively, whereas in boys section, Anmol Saini, Manthan Sharma and Sidharth Abrol secured Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
In 11 to 14 years girls, Anu Devi, Palak Bhagat and Iva Bharti secured Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively, whereas in boys section, Ramakant Behera, Varun Attri and Sourav Verma bagged Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
In 14 to 17 years girls, Mrinalani Manhas, Afreen Kour and Himani Verma bagged Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively, whereas in boys section, Ketan Sharma, Sunil Singh and Anupam Khajuria clinched Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
In 17 to 21 years girls, Navratri Rakwal bagged Gold medal, whereas in boys section, Baljinder Singh, Sudesh Kumar and Dipinjeet Singh clinched Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
In 21 to 25 years, Rakesh Singh bagged Gold medal.
