Cabinet to promote 4 officers

JAMMU, Jan 21: State Cabinet, which is meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah tomorrow morning at Civil Secretariat, is going to promote one IAS and three KAS officers besides sanctioning re-employment of two Special Secretaries in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Authoritative sources told EXCELSIOR that Cabinet would accord sanction to the promotion of Sonali Kumar, IAS officer of 1979 batch and presently posted as Principal Secretary (Coordination) Resident Commission Office, J&K Government, New Delhi to the fixed scale of IAS.
The Cabinet will also accord sanction to the promotion of three Junior Scale KAS officers of 2008 batch to the Time Scale of J&K Administrative Service with effect from January 24, 2012. These officers are Jahangir Hashmi, Vaibhav Kohli and Dhanantar Singh.
According to the sources, Cabinet will also accord approval to the re-employment of Sufi Mohammad Yousaf and Verinder Slathia as Special Secretaries in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for a period of one year beyond the date of their superannuation—January 31, 2013 and February 28, 2013 respectively.
In response to a question, sources said, “the possibility of Cabinet discussing the issue of elections to the Block Development Councils (BDCs) cannot be ruled out”.
This would be first Cabinet meeting after resent reshuffle in the Council of Ministers. The new entrants in the Cabinet are Saifullah Mir (Minister for Law), Choudhary Ramzan (Minister for Transport and CAPD), Mohd Akbar Lone (Minister for Higher Education), Ajay Sadhotra (Minister for Planning and Development), G A Mir (Minister for Tourism) and Abdul Majid Wani (Minister for R&B).
