VRS given SRTC workers stage protest

VRS given SRTC workers being stopped by police near Gumat during rally towards Secretariat in Jammu.
JAMMU, Jan 21: Volunteer retirement given workers and employees of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) held strong protest demonstration near Press Club and took out rally towards Civil Secretariat today.
The VRS given employees of the SRTC under the banner of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employees Association assembled near Exhibition Ground here in the morning and held strong protest demonstration. Dev Raj Bali, president and general secretary Surinder Singh were leading the protest.
After staging protest for some time at the venue, the retired SRTC employees holding banners and placards started protest march towards Civil Secretariat. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands and against SRTC management.
As they were moving towards Gumat, a strong contingent of police intercepted them. The police raised barricades and foiled their march. The workers showed some resistance but could not move ahead and later dispersed. They were demanding their arrears of COLA slabs and all benefits of 6th Pay Commission in favour of voluntarily retired SRTC workers.
