JAMMU, Jan 23: Scripting a convincing win by (3-0) sets over Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, GCW Gandhi Nagar stormed into the finals of the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Women) Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in the semifinals, GCW Gandhi Nagar, riding on a fabulous display of smashing, lifting, servicing and blocking skills by Bindu Verma and Bharti Devi, defeated GCW Parade by (25-10, 25-10 and 25-08) in an easy contest. Though, Meenu Rajput and Jigmet of GCW Parade also played superbly, but could not help their side to make a match of it.
Meanwhile, in the second semifinal match scheduled for the day, PG Department team straight way made it to the finals as none of the other teams of their pool could turn up. Hence PG Department entered the final via walkovers.
Now, PG Department will lock horns with GCW Gandhi Nagar in the summit clash on January 28, at 11 am sharp.
The matches were officiated by Romesh Sharma, Shashi Sharma, Sat Paul, Manisha Devi and Ashima Sharma.
