JAMMU, Dec 2: Army conducted a T20 cricket tournament at Naushera with an aim to identify potential cricket stars and provide a platform to the youth of remote/border areas to develop their sporting skills.
The teams of Naushera, Rumlidhara, Jhangar, Kalal, Lam and Kalsiyan villages participated in the tournament from November 24, 2018.
All teams displayed good skills leading to tough competition which captivated the spectators of all age groups and was highly appreciated.
Earlier, the tsemifinals were played between Kalsiyan Knight Riders and Rumlidhara Royals and Lam Warriors & Kalal Strikers, while Lam Warriors won the Naushera T- 20 Cricket Tournament 2018 by 49 runs.
Swarn Singh, DYSSO, Rajouri was invited to the matches to identify potential cricketers.
The Naushera T-20 Cricket Tournament trophy was presented to Lam Warriors Team Captain Gurpreet Singh along with a cash prize of Rs 20,000, while the runners-up trophy was presented to the Kalsiyan Knight Riders Team Captain Ashok Kumar along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Medals were awarded to all the players of the two teams.
The locals expressed their gratitude towards the Army in its endeavours to motivate the youth of the region.
