JAMMU, Dec 4: Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER, organized Annual Sports Day for its preschool Humming Buds, the Inclusive School and its Primary wing at the BC Road Campus, here.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation by students from classes O level to VI.
Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER was the chief guest, while Rupa Gupta, Joint Director was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries present were PK Srivastava, Principal, JK Dhiman, Vice- Principal, Dr Rohnika Sharma HoD B.Ed. Department, Maneka Khanna, Incharge Humming Buds, Rita Khanna, Incharge Residency Road and Chanda Mahajan, Manager Academics Primary wing.
The programme commenced with the lightning of the torch by Dr Adit Gupta, Director MIER who also declared the sports meet open.
A plethora of fun-filled athletic events were organized wherein the young athletes marvelled one and all with their breath taking speed, focus and concentration.
Different races were conducted like flag race, treasure hunt, dress me up, hula hoop, balancing race, exchange the ball, roll the ball with hockey, sack race and hurdle race to name a few. The meet marked the participation by students of special school who took part with great zeal and gusto.
Dr Gupta appreciated the students for taking part in various activities and contented that such events are always momentous for children.
He also stressed that sports inculcate discipline and focus in students which helps them to become self-confident.
Rupa Gupta while interacting with the correspondent of Model academy News Network underlined the role of sports in improving fitness and developing life skills of students.
PK Srivastava, Principal applauded the efforts of students and Sports Department and advised them to work hard toward ones good health to promote longevity and healthy life.
The winners of various events were honoured with medals.

The event was coordinated and compered by Tanya Nagpal and Dinesh Sharma Physical Instructor.
Welcome Address was presented by Maneka Khanna, Incharge Humming Buds and vote of thanks was proposed by Rita Khanna Incharge Residency Road School.
