Man’s body found, cyclist knocked to death

KATHUA, Jan 25: A man was found dead at Lakhanpur in Kathua while a middle-aged cyclist was knocked to death by an unknown vehicle near Akhnoor this evening.
A police spokesman said that 65-year-old Ved Parkash, working in a shop at Lakhanpur was found lying dead in his rented room this morning. His room was also lying opened. The neighbours informed police about the matter. The police party examined the spot and then shifted the body to Kathua hospital where it was kept for complete identification in the mortuary. The deceased was said to be from outside the State and working at a local establishment for the last many years. The police registered a case under Section 174 CrPC and started investigation.
Meanwhile, one Garba Ram (36), son of Premo Ram, resident of Pangiari village was hit by an unknown vehicle when he was moving to his home on a cycle near Ashram Colony in Akhnoor at around 7.30 pm this evening. Critically injured cyclist was rushed to hospital by some locals where he was declared as brought dead. The police registered a case and started manhunt for the vehicle and its driver.
