JAMMU, Dec 17: APS Jammu celebrated Annual Day function at General Zorawar Singh Stadium University of Jammu amidst great zest, zeal and vibrancy.
Major General Sharad Kapur, General Officer Commanding Tiger Division was the chief guest on the occasion, who inaugurated the celebration by lighting the ceremonial lamp in presence of Principal Ratna Mallick and other dignitaries.
The gala show ‘Navras’ commenced with welcome song by the gifted school choir. The disney dance and garba regaled the viewers and displayed the abounding flair in the students. Humorous ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ or the traditional qawali gave a taste of desh bhakti ras. The school orchestra put forth a harmonious blend of string and percussion instruments. The riveting performance of the classical and kathak dancers enthralled the spectators while highlighting the Indian cultural heritage.
‘Veer Gatha’ a tableau depicting valour and courage of Indian Army drew the loudest applause from the gathering. The palki dance exhibiting the karuna ras and a powerful skit ‘Komal Hai Kamzor Nahi’ by NCC girls gave a new dimension to women empowerment. The students of classes 6th, 7th and 8th took the audience through the annals of ancient history to view the epic journey of Ashoka The Great.
The grand finale of the evening was the breathtaking ‘Shiv Tandav’ performed by the ebullient girls of class 11th. Their vigorous and energetic moves brought the divine rage of Mahadev to the forefront.
Principal of the School Ratna Mallick presented the annual report of the institution. It was a moment of pride when the chief guest felicitated meritorious students for their scholastic and co-scholastic achievements amid thunderous applause.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Sharad Kapur hoped the school would touch new heights of excellence.
