Migrants participation in ULB poll a jolt to poll boycotters: Koul

JAMMU, Dec 20: BJP general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul said that displaced Kashmiri Pandits crave for return to their homeland Kashmir and his party is committed for their honorable and dignified return to Valley of which they are part and parcel.
Addressing a function organized , in honour of newly elected Panches, Sarpanches, councilors and corporators from Kashmir Valley at Muthi near here, Ashok Koul said that the migrants participation in ULB and Panchayat elections gave a blow to boycott call of National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as members of majority community in thousands filled up their forms to contest the Panchayat elections in the Valley defying the boycott call of two Kashmir centric parties and separatists.
He said the elected representatives of Pandits have created a way for the return of the community to Valley and establish a people to people contact.
He urged them that they should visit their wards and Panchayat Halqas and ascertain problems of the people and work for their redressal with honesty and dedication.
He also stressed them to visit their religious places and shrines for revival of pluralistic culture of the Valley. He said the migrant candidates showed way to people and 20,000 Panches and Sarpanches from majority community got elected from Kashmir Valley which is a great victory for Indian democracy.
The function was also addressed by BJP MLC and vice president of the party, Ajay Bharti who said situation has changed in Kashmir as common masses are fed up with the separatists and terrorists. He said BJP has resolved to weed out terrorism from the Valley and Prime Minster, Narendra Modi has reiterated his Government’s resolve in this regard also while addressing the gathering of Panches and Sarpanches from State yesterday at New Delhi.
District president BJP, Shopian Javed Qadri also addressed the gathering. In the function 46 Panches, Sarpanches and councilors from district Shopian, 42 from district Pulwama, eight from district Kulgam in South Kashmir participated.
