JAMMU, Dec 25: Trouncing formidable Haryana by a narrow margin of 15 runs in the summit clash, Chandigarh lifted the title trophy of the 64th National School Games Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament, organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports at KC Sports Club ground, here today.
At Jammu University ground, Jammu and Kashmir boys defeated their counterparts from Uttar Pradesh in the hardliner to bag 3rd place in the tournament.
Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking thanked all the participating players for their cooperation during the event and the spirit they exhibited during the matches.
He lavished praise on the referees and officials for commendable job in conducting the tournament.
He congratulated Chandigarh, Haryana and J&K teams for playing well and making it to first, second and third places respectively.
He expressed his gratitude to all the officers / officials of the department for organizing the National event smoothly and successfully.
The Director General distributed the appreciation certificates and trophies amongst the winners.
Those present on the occasion were Bashir Ahmad, Joint Director, Youth services & Sports, Kashmir, Kuldeep Mishra, Observer, SGFI, Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu, Khursheed Ahmad Tariq, DYSSO Baramulla, Noor-ul-Haq, DYSSO Anantnag, Sukhdev Singh, DYSSO Ramban, Balbir Singh, DYSSO Budgam and Managers / Coaches of all the 28 teams.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students of MIER and Higher Secondary School, Nawabad, Jammu.
