Rasool’s 158 not enough to save J&K from defeat against Odisha

JAMMU, Dec 25: J&K skipper Parvez Rasool’s marathon knock of 158 runs off 217 balls, studded with 18 fours and 2 sixes was not enough to save Jammu and Kashmir from the defeat against Odisha in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Sciecne College Hostel Gound, here.
Odisha chased a target of 197 runs set by Jammu and Kashmir easily by losing 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 172/7, J&K sailed on Rasool’s marvellous century and Amir Aziz’s magnificent 56 runs to score 391 runs, setting a target of 197 runs for the rivals. Mohammad Mudhasir also contributed quick-fire 31 runs with 4 sixes to the total.
For Odisha, Basant Mohanty took 4 wickets, while Dhiraj Singh and Poddar bagged 2 wickets each and Poddar claimed one.
In reply, Odisha scored the required runs in 49.1 overs, with 5.5 mandatory overs remaining in the match. Santanu Mishra top scored with 78 runs, while Subranshu Senapati contributed unbeaten 72 runs to the total. Anurag Sarangi and Poddar also chipped in with 20 runs each.
Brilliant batting by the Odisha batsmen coupled with poor fielding by J&K helped Odisha to win the match.
