Jammu, Dec 28: Yudhvir Sethi, BJP State General Secretary J&K and Chief Patron of Jammu and Kashmir Six A Side Cricket Association alongwith all office bearers of State unit today felicitated J&K team which won the national level cricket tournament at Delhi. This is for the first time Jammu and Kashmir participated in this national level cricket Under-16 tourney after getting affiliation and brought laurels for the State.
President of the association, Ramnik Mahajan, Secretary, Tejinderpal Singh, Chief Coach Sukomal Ganguly were also present at the event where all players were felicitated in function organised by the association at Jammu today.
This was first time that State association was granted affiliation by the Six A Side Federation of India.
Six A Side Federation of India is a premier Cricket organization which promotes the sport in a big way. The Federation owns its grounds and this tournament that was won by Jammu and Kashmir was participated by about 24 teams from all over the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi said sports are as essential for life as academics. He congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir team for winning this prestigious tournament and bringing laurels to the State. He added that this was for the first time we got affiliation and proved our worth. The boys deserves all praise for their hard work, he added.
Yudhvir Sethi who is also general secretary of BJP said that it’s towards encouraging sports especially cricket that only available stadium in Jammu is being completely renovated as world class cricket stadium where international matches will be held. This, he added will be a great contribution of Union Government to State where we will able to witness matches round the year.
He added that this will also encourage sports persons to participate and practice in a good ground. He while congratulating the management of Six A Side Federation of India as well as J&K state unit hoped that more such trophies will fall in our lap.
