JAMMU, Jan 1: Stanzin Youthog and Manik Slathia of Mountaineering Association of J&K have been selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi for a selection camp for IMF Everest Expedition-2019.
They are among the about 15 mountaineers selected from throughout the country for this selection camp and finally about 5 to 6 mountaineers may be selected for this prestigious expedition. Initially the climbers shall attend a 4 weeks training around Leh in sub zero temperature and then may attend another such camp elsewhere.
Earlier, Mountaineering Association of J&K organised a function at Adventure Holidays India to give these climbers a send off. However, only Manik Slathia was present in the function as the other climber Stanzin Youthog had to leave for Leh in the morning. Most of the members of the Association were present on the occasion Manik Slathia left today for joining the other members at IMF, New Delhi.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Secretary and Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria, Sumit Khajuria, a senior mountaineer, Sonam Sidharth, Joint Secretary of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Mrigank Kaushal and Lucky Sumbria, both trained mountaineers, Anita Sharma and Ajay Thakur.
