Maintain contact with people to check activities of anti-national elements: IGP

JAMMU, Jan 1: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone MK Sinha interacted with officers and jawans in police auditorium here this afternoon.
IGP Jammu was accompanied by DIG Jammu Range Vivek Gupta. The interaction was attended by SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh, SP North Amritpal Singh, SP Operations Jammu Sandeep Mehta, SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal, SP Rural Dushant Sharma, SDPOs, SHOs and Incharge of all Police Posts of District Jammu besides jawans of Jammu district.
IGP directed the officers to promptly respond to public complaints and be people friendly. While briefing the officers, he also stressed that there is need for transparency and people friendly policing. He directed police officers and men to maintain complete impartiality and to remain polite in their public dealings.
Police jawans also put forth some of the problems being faced by them. IGP gave patient hearing to their grievances and assured them that their issues will be decisively looked into for solution. Some problems were projected by jawans relating to their welfare, for which IGP issued on spot directions to police officers present in the meeting.
IGP directed all police officers of Jammu district to remain alert and vigilant to thwart any nefarious designs of anti-social and anti-national elements. He emphasized upon surprise checking of nakas and establishing special nakas for checking of vehicles especially for border areas.
Sinha called for synergizing police-public partnership groups and directed the territorial officers to conduct regular meetings with the general public in their areas of responsibility. He stressed upon the district officers to reach out to the common people particularly in the remote and border areas and seek their invaluable cooperation and assistance in curbing the menace of infiltration and checking the movement of terrorists. He also stressed for ensuring strenuous police efforts towards maintenance of communal harmony and brotherhood.
The senior officers of the district were asked to personally address these meetings and educate the people on fighting the menace of terrorism, drug abuse and other social evils prevailing in the society. He also asked the officers and jawans to keep their eyes and ears open against any threat from terrorists and other anti-social elements in view of the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
DIG JKS Range Vivek Gupta also gave a detailed introduction regarding the day today policing in Jammu district.
