Inter Zone Sports Meet

JAMMU, Jan 5: Shooters fired, boxers thrilled, athletes sweated-it-out and shuttlers displayed grit and guts as the participants of various disciplines showed extraordinary skills to vie for the top honours in the ongoing Inter Zone Sports Meet, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department at various venues here.
In GO’s event Glock Pistol Shooting Men, VK Jamwal emerged winner and Joginder Singh was the runners-up, while in GO’s event Glock Pistol Shooting Women, Manjit Kour was the winner and Usha Kher ended runner-up.
In Shooting Men Pistol 25 Mtrs Standing Position, SI Rakesh Sharma of Armed Zone won gold, SGCT Harish Singh of Armed Zone bagged silver and ASI Babu Ram of Training Zone claimed bronze, while in Pistol 15 Mtrs Squating Position, SGCT Mohd Arif of Training Zone won gold, while silver and bronze medals went to SGCT Harish Singh and SI Rakesh Sharma respectively.
In Shooting Women Pistol 25 Mtrs Standing Position, gold, silver and bronze medals wen to Sarita Sharma of Training Zone, Renu Rattan of Armed Zone and Sunita Devi of Armed Zone respectively, while in Pistol 15 mtrs Squating Position, Sanjeewan Jyoti of Jammu Zone, Sarita Sharma of Training Zone and Rashika Sharma of Training Zone clinched gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
In Shooting Men Carbine 50 Mtrs Kneeling Position, Rakesh Bandral of Training Zone won gold, Junaid Wali of INTELSECT bagged silver and the bronze went to Faisal Qureshi of Jammu Zone, while in Carbine 40 Mtrs Standing Position, Sanjeewan Jyoti of Armed, Surya Bano of Armed and Sarishta Devi of Armed won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Shooting Men 100 Mtrs Prone Position, Mohd Arif of Training Zone, Mohinder Kumar of Training Zone and Arun Gandothra of Armed Zone bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in Rifle 100 Mtrs Kneeling Position, Mohd Shafiq of Armed Zone, Arun Gandothra of Armed Zone and Mohd Arif of Training Zone claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Shooting Women Rifle 100 Mtrs Prone Position Sareeta Sharma of Training Zone, Devi Ranim of Armed Zone and Asha Rani of Training Zone won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in Rifle 100 Mtrs Kneeling Position, Sareeta Sharma won gold, Asha Rani bagged silver and Devi Rani claimed bronze.
In Athletics 10 Kms Cross Country Team Men, Armed A won 1st place, Armed B bagged second spot and Jammu Zone won the third position, while in Athletics 10 Kms Cross Country Individual event, Ram Raj of Jammu won gold, Barkat Ali of Armed bagged silver and the bronze medal went to Parshotam Kumar of INTELSECT.
In 400 Mtrs Women, Rigzin Dolma of Training Zone bagged gold, Satnzin Lazes of Trsaining Zone claimed silver and Neelam Devi of Training Zone clinched bronze.
In Shot Put Women, Seema Devi of Armed, Jasvinder Kour of Armed and Stanzin Lazes of Training won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Athletics 100 Mtrs Women, Raqia Begum of Training, Priya Kumari of Training and Sewang Dolma of Training won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Javelin Throw Women, Seema Devi of Armed, Stanzin Lachun of Training and Murup Dolma of Training claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In 200 Mtrs Women, Marziya Banoo of Training, Kanya Kumari of Training and Tsering Dolma of Training claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 800 Mtrs Women, Tsering Spaldon of Training Zone won gold, Bharti Devi of Training Zone bagged silver and the bronze went to Tsering Diskit of Training.
In Discus Throw Women, Jasvinder Kour of Armed, Seema Devi of Armed and Murup Dolma of Training claimed gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
In Boxing Men, the gold medls in different weight categories went to Kartar Singh of Armed, Shakeel Ahmed of Armed, Sunny Bakaya of Armed, Vikas Narwalia of Armed, Rohit Kumar of Training, Gourav Pikhan of Training, Balbir Singh of SDRF and Ishfaq Ahmed of Kashmir, while in Boxing Women, the gold medals were bagged by Darshana Devi of Armed, Yasmeen Choudhary of Training, Sameena Gulzar of Training, Sadiqa Bano of Training, Madhu Rani of Armed and Veenita Bharti of Training.
In GO’s event Table TennisMen’s Singles final, Paramvir Singh drubbed Nikhil Rasgotra to win the title, while in Badminton Men’s Doubles, the pair of SSPs Tejinder Singh and RC Kotwal defeated the duo of SSP Pawan Parihar and SP Liyaqat Ali to lift the title.
In Badminton Singles, the winners included SSP Sanjeev Khajuria, SSP Swarn Singh Kotwal, DySP Kameshwar Puri, SSP Ravinder Kumar, sp Liyaqat Ali, SSP Vijay Soodan and DySP Sunny Gupta.
In Judo, the gold medals in different weight categories went to Rohit Kumar of Training, Rohit Singh of INTELSECT, Vishal Singh of Armed, Shabir Ahmed of Kashmir, Rakesh Singh of Armed, Gulshan Singh of Armed and Javid Khan of Training Zone.
