JAMMU, Jan 5: J&K State Kalarippayattu Championship 2018-19 got underway at Kotli Bhawan, Rehari Colony, here.
Ramesh Arora, MLC was the chief guest on the occasion, while Anu Bali (Councillor) and Arun Khanna (Councillor) were the guests of honour.
The Championship was organized by Kalarippayattu Association of J&K.
180 players drawn from 8 Districts of the State participated in the Championship and the participating districts included
Samba, Jammu, Poonch, Reasi, Kathua, Udhampur, Srinagar and Leh.
Speaking on the occasion, Arora lavished praise on the organizers for hosting this mega event and assured all help to Association in future.
Anu Bali and Arun Khanna also assured to help financially for the promotion of this martial art in J&K.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Dr SM Bali, Arun Khanna, Anu Bali, Kuldeep Handoo, Atul Pangotra and Ambedkar Gupta.
The Championship was conducted under the supervision of Danish Sharma.
Dr SM Bali dwelt upon the importance of Kalarippayattu in self-defence, fitness and development of physique. besides character building.
