RAJOURI, Jan 18: An elderly man was arrested by Police for allegedly stealing from a donation box in a shrine in Rajouri.
The stolen amount of Rs 17,392 has been recovered from possession of the accused, identified as Mohd Sharief S/o Lal Din a resident of Dara Samote area in Poonch district.
Reports said that a team of Rajouri Police on night patrol noticed some suspicious activity near the religious place and found a 60-year old man hiding there, who later tried to run away. But the police team nabbed him. During the questioning, the accused told police that he broke open the donation box and took the cash from it.
A case has been registered against the accused.
