JAMMU, Jan 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Psychiatric Society organised annual CME for the year 2018-19, here today.
The CME was attended by prominent Psychiatrists from Jammu and Kashmir. Keeping in view of the recent surge in heroin addiction in Jammu and Kashmir, the topic of the CME was “Opioid Dependence-Acute and long term treatment”.
Dr Atul Ambedkar, Senior Professor, National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre, AIIMS New Delhi, was the chief guest and speaker on the said topic. He presented the acute treatment strategy in Opioid Dependence.
The session was followed by detailed discussion regarding treatment strategy for Opioid detoxification. Dr Abdul Majid, Associate Professor and Incharge De-addiction Centre, SKIIMS Medical College, Srinagar, spoke on the long term management of Opioid Dependence and oral substitution therapy.
The -CME was followed by general body meeting and election of new office bearers of J&K Psychiatric Society. Dr Mohammed Aslam, Ex-Professor of Psychiatry, SKIIMS Medical College Srinagar and Dr Rakesh Banal, Consultant Psy, GMC Jammu, were elected as president and vice president respectively. Dr Abhishek Chowhan, Consultant Psychiatrist, GMC Jammu, was elected as general secretary and Dr Imitiaz Mansur and Dr Manmeet Singh, Consultant Psychiatrists , were elected as Joint Secretaries. Dr Majid Shafi, Consultant Psychiatrist, Kashmir and Dr Manu Arora, Consultant Psychiatrist GMC Jammu, were elected as Treasurer & representative to Indian Psychiatric Society respectively. Dr Rajesh Chandel, Dr Rohit Jasrotia, Dr Akash Y Khan and Dr Nizam-ud-Din were selected as EC Members. Dr H U Shah, Dr Kuldeep Kaul, Dr A W Khan, Dr Mohammad Maqbool and Dr Arshad Hussain were nominated as advisors of J&K Psychiatric Society.
The meeting concluded with the felicitation of Dr U K Mehta, Senior Psychiatrist & Patron of Jammu & Kashmir Psychiatric Society.
The programme was attended by Senior Psychiatrist of Jammu , including Dr Jagdesh Thappa, Dr Kuldeep K Kaul, Dr Mannu Arora, Dr Rakesh Banal, Dr Abhishek Chouhan and others colleagues.
Dr Imtiyaz Mansoor anchored the programme. Dr Rakesh Banal concluded the program with vote of thanks.
