JAMMU, Jan 20: Army organized a ‘Mega Multi-Speciality Medical Camp’ for the benefit of local populace of remote and inaccessible hilly areas of Gool and its adjoining villages.
The camp was organized consequent to popular demand from the people owing to almost negligible medical facilities available in Gool Sub Division.
The camp was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Manomoy Ganguly, Director General of Medical Services (Army) in presence of Major General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) and many other senior Army officers and civil dignitaries.
Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) in PMO also visited the medical camp and interacted with the patients before addressing the gathering.
Leading super-specialist doctors and nursing staff from various fields and drawn from various Army Hospitals were pooled in to provide much needed specialist medical cover during this camp. Free medicines were also provided to the patients including ladies, children and elderly during the camp.
During the camp, approximately 4650 patients were treated which included 1628 males, 1952 females and 1070 children. The patients were also distributed with medical aids which include 5 wheel-chairs, 29 walking sticks, 6 crutches, 10 hearing aids and 28 low vision kits.
Notable during the camp, was saving resuscitation extended to Shabir Ahmed who was an epilepsy patient brought in a critical life threatening condition to whom timely emergency aid was provided by a team of specialist Army doctors, which resulted in saving precious life of the individual. Also, Nargis (14) thanked the Army doctors for a surgery provided to her for Dermoid Cyst during the camp. In all, a total of 32 patients requiring critical care were treated during the camp.
