Sport climbers Shivani, Asma leave for Bengaluru

JAMMU, Jan 27: Shivani Charak and Asma Gul, two ace sport climbers of the Mountaineering Association of J&K left today for Bengaluru from Delhi to represent North Zone in the 24th National Sport Climbing Competition being held at Kanteerva Stadium, Bengaluru from today to January 30, 2019.
Prior to their departure for Bengaluru, the two climbers had strenuous coaching under a national coach for 11 days at the International standard climbing walls and Gym at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi.
Whereas Shivani Charak, the reigning national champion in Women category in Lead Climbing and Bouldering will try to defend both the crowns and is also expected to put a better show in Speed Climbing in which she secured a silver medal last year, Asma Gul, on the other hand, a dominant force at the Zonal level shall have the opportunity to prove her talents at the national level and bring laurels to the State.
It may be mentioned here that Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi had selected five climbers of J&K in the North Zone Team but the other three climbers declined to participate in the national competition because of their final exams.
