JAMMU, Jan 30: Three days Handball Championship organized by District Handball Association Jammu concluded today at MA Stadium here.
On the occasion, Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer was the chief guest, who along with Ravi Singh Divisional Sports Officer Jammu Province gave away the winners and runners-up trophies and also other individual prizes.
The Championship was organized by Ashwani Kumar Raina, General Secretary, J&K Handball Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council.
While speaking, Qayoom said the State is rich in sports talent and sportsmen from the State have proved their mettle at different national and international championships. He added that proper nurturing by JKHA will go a long way in promoting the talent at different levels.
Earlier, General Secretary of the J&K Handball Association, Ashwani Kumar Raina presented the welcome address.
Among others present were Dr SM Bali, President J&K Handball Association, Sanjeev Jamwal Executive Member JKHA, Rajesh Chanden, Rajesh Kapoor, Dev Raj, SAI Coach and Vinay Sharma, Coach.
The final match in women section was played between Sampark Handball Club and Sandeep Pal Club in which Sampark Handball Club emerged winner by 8-7 goals. The main scorer for Sampark Handball Club was Arushi who netted 4 goals, Megha and Poonam Kumari also scored 2 goals each.
In men section, the final match was played between STC Jammu and Sandeep Pal Club in which Sandeep Pal Club emerged winner by 34-27 goals. The main scorer for Sandeep Pal Club was Sahil Padha, who scored 10 goals, while Varinder Singh and Neeraj singh netted 9 and 8 goals respectively.
