Panthers Party organises rally

UDHAMPUR, Feb 1: A large rally was organized by Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (NPP) at Udhampur under the leadership of NPP state president former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia against drugs menance, irregular supply of drinking water in Udhampur town and its adjoining areas and deteriorated traffic condition in and around Udhampur town.
The protest rally commenced from Mini Stadium Udhampur and reached in the office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur by passing through Dabbar Chowk, Gole Market, Mukerjee Bazar, Ramnagar Chowk, Court Road and Salathia Chowk. A large number of school children besides NPP activists took part in the rally.
NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner in connection with the agenda of the rally. Mankotia expressed that Udhampur town and its adjoining areas are facing multiple problems but excessive use of drugs and narcotics among youth is a very serious problem. He said, we have to channelize the youth energy into right direction by providing them employment, proper counseling and awareness among general masses.
He told the Deputy Commissioner that Panthers Party has initiated the awareness program in Udhampur town by appealing to the people to remain vigilant on the activities of their children. Mankotia further said that the condition of traffic system of Udhampur town has deteriorated but Administration has failed to control it.
Mankotia said that scarcity of drinking water and irregular supply is also a big problem and PHE Department is unable to provide adequate supply of water. The Deputy Commissioner assured the NPP leader, that all necessary and required measures will be taken on the issues raised by them. He also appreciated Mankotia for his non- political rally.
