JAMMU, Feb 10: The 5th Founder’s Day-Annual Day was celebrated by GD Goenka Public School, Jammu, here today.
The theme of the show was ‘Womanhood’. An exhibition was put up by the students on the occasion.
Models and charts were displayed by the students, which was followed by a cultural programme presented by them.
The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest, Dr Manohar Lal, Minister of State for Fisheries, Stationary and Election and the guest of honour MLA Sukhnandan Chaudhary.
Melodious Raagas-Jugalbandi was followed by Triveni which included Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Manipuri.
The students also performed Dogri, Kashmiri and Ladakhi dances on the occasion. Kinesthetic dance was also presented by some students.
A salute to the Indian women was presented through the dance drama ‘Khub Ladhi Mardani Who To Jhansi Wali Rani Thi’.
The welcome note was read by the Head girl, Indrakshi Koul.
Meanwhile, the students who had excelled in the field of academics, co-ordinatoe activities and sports were also felicitated on the occasion.
While Usman-bin-Khalid was conferred with the Goenkan Laureate, Anmol Rathore was presented a trophy for excellence in co-curricular activities. She was also felicitated for authoring a book.
Principal, Poonam Jha presented Annual Report of the School, wherein she highlighted the achievements of the school.
School Chairman, Dewan Chand Bansal was also present on the occasion.
Head boy, Shivam Rohmetra presented vote of thanks.
