KARGIL, Feb 27: Ice Hockey Tournament organized by District Police Kargil under Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2018-19 concluded at Ice Hockey Rink, Goshan Drass, here today.
The five day tournament ended with exhilarating final match and scintillating closing ceremony.
Ten teams hailing drawn from different areas of Kargil participated in the tournament.
Adventure Club Drass and Chiktan Red were the two teams which played in the final. Adventure Club Drass emerged victorious after an exciting contest with 4-3 goals.
Baseer-ul-Haq, Deputy Commissioner Kargil was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Vinod Kumar, SP Kargil was the guest of honour.
The event created festive environment and people in all age groups turned up in large numbers to watch the final match, braving chill.
Mr Baseer lauded the efforts of District Police Kargil for its initiative to promote this game to provide opportunity to the players to showcase their talent.
Dr Vinod Kumar in his address said under CAP, Jammu and Kashmir Police strives to bridge the gap between police and public. He said District Police Kargil is committed to carry out different programmes to facilitate the youth of Kargil.
At the conclusion the Prize Distribution Ceremony was held in which winning team in addition to the coveted trophy was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while as the runners-up team was awarded with trophy and cash prize of Rs 7,000.
All the players along with referees and officials who participated in the event were given certificate and cash prize. Mohd Amin, Chairman Himalayan Sports Organisation Drass played key role by providing referees and other professional staff required for the event.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Gh Rasool I/c SDM Drass, Dr Altaf Bukhari BMO Drass, Regzin Sandup Dy.SP DAR Kargil and Tswang Rigzin SHO P/S Drass.
