KATHUA, Feb 11: Two trucks and a load carrier along with 24 bovine animals were seized and six smugglers arrested by police during two separate nakas here early today.
A police spokesman said that the police party on the basis of some inputs, intercepted two trucks PB08AH/7804 and PB-35Q-1220 in Ravi river near Maggar Khud in Kathua and found 20 bovine animals being transported to Kashmir from Punjab. The police seized the vehicles and animals and arrested four persons. They were identified as Partap Singh -driver of Gurdaspur, Shams Din Gujjar of Sapla village in Kathua, Sunil Kumar (driver) of Sujanpur (PB) and Rajesh Kumar alias Manga of Talpur village in Gurdaspur. A case was registered against them.
The police also seized a Mahindra load carrier JK02U/9436 near Bhagthli in Kathua today and recovered four bovine animals being smuggled to Valley. Two persons were arrested in this connection. They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmed (driver) of Finder, Bishnah and his associate Yaqoob Ali of Badala Channgran in Kathua. A case FIR 48/2013 was registered in this connection.
