JAMMU, Mar 3: In a major development and in order to boost sports activities in the State, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam laid foundation stone of Multipurpose Sports Complex at Bagwati Nagar, here.
Speaking on the occasion, Subrahmanyam said that government is keen to develop sports infrastructure in the State and that Government is boosting games and empowering sportspersons to engage youth in productive things.
He further said that Government has already taken various steps for promoting sports and games and this project is a step forward in that direction.
It is pertinent to mention here that the complex will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 107 Crore which will be having 70,000 seating capacity including central complex of 500 seats for guests.
The Stadium will have various facilities including Skating Rink, Cycling Track, Lawn Tennis, Athletic Track and Jogging Track, besides infra for Volleyball, Basketball, Rollball, Handball and Badminton.
Chief Secretary laid the foundation stone of the Complex in the presence of Navin Chaudhary, Principal Secretary to Govt Youth Services and Sports, Sanjeev Verma Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar District Development Commissioner Jammu, Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary Secretary JKSSC, Rajnish Kumar and various other officials of State and sports administration.
Secretary JKSSC, Dr Chowdhary and officials of JKSSC thanked Governor Administration for empowering sportspersons and developing sports infrastructure in the State.
