Dr Jitendra launches Rs 208 cr road projects in Kathua, Udhampur, Doda

JAMMU, Mar 5: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today electronically launched over Rs 208 crore worth road projects in Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency represented by him.
Out of these, Rs 152 crore road projects have been sanctioned under Central Road Fund and Rs 56 crore under Government of India’s PMGSY scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in the current Financial Year ending on March 31, the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency received the highest share of Centrally allocated funds for roads and bridges. For example, he said, out of Rs 3800 crore of Central Funds allocated through PMGSY scheme, as much as around Rs 1700 crore road projects belong to this constituency.
The road projects launched today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, are in addition to the road projects already launched over the last one year and a collective launching of these projects had to be carried out today,at a short notice, because of the impending imposition of the election Code of Conduct expected in the next few days.
Some of the important roads and bridges launched today are those for which had been long – pending public demands. These, for example, include a motorable bridge on river Chenab connecting Jodhpur in district Doda, a bridge on river Chenab at Marsoo, a double-lane bridge over Patharkote-Jammu road to Hira Nagar over Hira Nagar Nallah, a bridge over Sugal Khad on Manu Hatli road, construction of an important road from Chhattergalla-Kailesh Kund via Seoj Dhar, etc. All of these have been approved under the Central Road Funds.
The important projects launched under PMGSY today include Malhar to Marhoon road in Kathua, Narsoo to Thani Dhar road in Chenani, Marsoh to Charrote road in Assar Doda, Droduh to Manawa road in Bhaderwah, Guriyan to Poochal road in Kishtwar, etc.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the Governor’s regime and the personal interest taken by the Advisor to Governor K.K. Sharma, which had helped in expediting the road and bridge projects over the last few months.
Advisor to Governor K.K. Sharma, speaking on the occasion, appreciated the close follow-up done by Dr Jitendra Singh in his constituency-related works which, he said, also helps and motivates the administration and the concerned departments to put in their best effort.
