JAMMU, Feb 12: As part of the SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan, being organised in Jammu and Kashmir, famous Santoorist, Abhay Rustum, Sopori gave a mesmerizing performance at GD Goenka Public School, here today.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome note presented by the Head Boy, Shivam Rohmetra, while Dr Sanya Bansal presented a bouquet to Sopori as a token of gratitude.
It was an interactive session as he taught the students to sing the ‘raag’ along with him and performed ‘alaap’.
After his performance, Rustum also answered the questions put up by the students.
In his introductory speech, Sopori stressed upon the students for not giving academics a back seat. He said a student must learn how to balance academics and co-curricular activities.
School Principal, Poonam Jha was present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rustum belongs to Sufiana Gharana of Indian Classical Music. He is the son of Padma Shri Bhajan Sopori and grandson of Santoor player Pandit SN Sopori.
