Record burnt in JK Bank, Treasury blaze

RAJOURI, Mar 8: The old and new record of Govt Treasury and some gadgets and record of JK Bank branch near Tehsil Complex was burnt in a massive fire incident at Rajouri town during last mid night.
Sources said that the mishap took place at around 1.45 am when the people of the area were fast asleep. Some cops on night patrol notices the flames of fire coming from J&K Bank and Treasury complex and raised alarm. They informed Fire Brigade authorities Rajouri and SHO concerned.
The police party reached there after some time but big Fire tenders could not enter the narrow market area. Then with the help of joined pipes, the fire men could manage to reach up to the site and douse the fire but it took them long time to start operation. A mini-fire tender however, managed to reach up to the site. It took over two hours to the Firemen to control the fire.
The sources said it is closing month of this financial year and many bills worth crores were pending in the Govt Treasury while many had already been cleared. Old and new record of the Treasury and even Bank record was also turned into ashes. The cause of fire could not be ascertained. The people suspect foul play behind the incident.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri has ordered an inquiry into the matter and asked the committee to submit its report within one week. The Police has also registered a case in this connection.
