JAMMU, Mar 10: 9th J&K State Shooting Championship, being organized by State Rifle Association in collaboration with Delhi Public School was inaugurated at the Shooting Range of Delhi Public School, here today.
Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Dilbag Singh, who is also Chairman of J&K State Rifle Association was the chief guest on the occasion.
The DGP in his address spoke very high about DPS Jammu and appreciated the efforts of the school Management and Authorities in grooming the students in curricular and co-curricular activities.
He also appreciated the role of the President, J&K Rifle Association, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal and his team for training the shooters of the state to achieve perfection.
He also felicitated meritorious alumni and shooters of DPS Jammu along with all the members of J&K Rifle Association.
Earlier, the DGP fired inaugural shots at the range and declared the Shooting Championship Open.
MK Ajatshatru Singh, President, RCT and Chairman/Trustee of the school, Rajkumar Ranvijay Singh, Trustee, Maharaja Hari Singh Social & Education Foundation, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, President, J&K Rifle Association, SS Sodhi, PVC/Director, DPS Schools, all other members of the J&K Rifle Association and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Principal DPS Jammu Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Nagbani, Raj Kumar Verma were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal in his welcome address informed that about 300 shooters from across the state will compete for top honours in under-15, 18, 21 and open categories.
This was followed by a variety of cultural items presented by the students. The items included Ganesh Vandana, classical dance rendition, prepared by Ritu Dogra and a Sufi Qawali by Joy Paul, which was highly appreciated by all.
Speaking on the occasion, SS Sodhi PVC/Director, DPS Schools extended thanks to Dilbag Singh for helping the school authorities in setting up of the first shooting range in DPS Jammu and J&K State.
The vote of thanks was presented by M K Ajatshatru Singh.
Chairman,Technical Committee, Rajesh Virdhy and members namely Vijay Kumar, Jagdish Singh, Tarun Dev Singh, Vishal Mehra and Deepika Jamwal were also present on the occasion.
