3 women among 7 family members brutally assaulted over land dispute

UDHAMPUR, Mar 10: Three women among seven members of a family were brutally assaulted by some miscreants, with whom the victims have land dispute at Ghordi Khas in Ramnagar area of Udhampur district.
The incident took place last night around 11 pm when the accused forced their entry into the house of the victims and brutally assaulted the family members with sharp edged weapons and iron rods . Even as the accused fled the scene after committing crime and leaving their victims in a pool of blood, Police has learnt to have rounded up six suspects for questioning.
According to SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey, a land dispute is stated to be cause of assault and three of the victims, who have sustained serious injuries, were referred to GMC Hospital for advanced treatment while four others were admitted at District Hospital Udhampur and their condition was stated to be stable.
Police has registered a case in this connection under relevant sections and rounded up six suspects who are being questioned for establishing their involvement in the crime, the SSP said.
The injured were identified as Sandhya Devi (45), wife of Ajeet Singh, Surinder Singh (22), son of Ajeet Singh, Kirpal Singh (30), son of Jagan Nath, Usha Devi (29), wife of Parbhat Singh, Ajeet Singh (46), son of Jagan Nath, Parbhat Singh (32) son of Jagan Nath and Sandoora Devi (35) wife of Prem Singh.
Sandoora Devi, Kirpal Singh and Prabhat Singh have sustained serious injuries and referred to GMC Hospital Jammu.
According to victim Surinder Singh, one Ratan Singh and his sons entered into their house and assaulted them with sharp edged weapons and rods. “Through mobile phone, we contacted the Sarpanch, Panch and other villages who shifted us to PHC Ghordi where doctors referred us to District Hospital Udhampur after first aid,” he said and added that due to no ambulance facility at PHC Ghordi, they had to hire a bus to reach Udhampur.
