JAMMU, Mar 11: NHPC, India’s premier hydropower company organized ‘Basant Mela 2019’ with great fervour and enthusiasm at the NHPC Residential Complex, Surajkund, Faridabad on March 9. The mela was inaugurated by Balraj Joshi, CMD, NHPC in the presence of senior officers of NHPC along with their families.
Apart from welcoming the arrival of spring, the Mela was also organized to mark the approval of investment sanction for construction of Kiru HE Project (624 MW) by M/s Chenab Valley Projects Pvt. Ltd. (CVPPPL) (a Joint Venture of NHPC Limited, JKSPDC and PTC) by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), approval of NHPC’s acquisition of Lanco’s 500 MW Teesta-VI Hydroelectric Project by CCEA and appointment of NHPC by Ministry of Power as “Aggregator” under Pilot Scheme-II for procurement of aggregated Power of 2500 MW for three years through PFC Consultancy Limited (PFCCL).
A number of stalls promoting local handicrafts, dress materials, food delicacies etc. from various states as J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttarakhand etc. were set up by NHPC power stations/ projects at the Mela. A special attraction of the mela was colourful cultural evening featuring Punjabi and Haryanvi songs and dance items in addition to performance by cultural troupe from Vrindavan which enthralled everyone present on the occasion.
Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects), N.K. Jain, Director (Personnel), Janardan Choudhary, Director (Technical), Satya Prakash Mangal, Independent Director, NHPC along with other senior NHPC officers were also present during Basant Mela 2019.
