JAMMU, Mar 14: 9th J&K Rifle Shooting Championship concluded at Delhi Public School, Jammu with an impressive Prize Distribution Ceremony here today.
The event was presided over by the chief guest, MK Ajatshatru Singh, President, RCT, MLC and former Minister.
Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, President, J&K Rifle Association was the guest of honour on the occasion. Ranvijay Singh, Trustee, Maharaja Hari Singh Social & Education Foundation, SS Sodhi, PVC/Director, DPS Jammu and Ashish Paul Singh Sodhi were also among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
All the guests were given a rousing welcome by the school band, NCC, Principal DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra, PrincipalDPS Nagbani, Rajkumar Verma and all other members of the Administration.
About 300 men & women shooters of the District Rifle Associations of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Baramulla, Srinagar and JKP alongwith DPS Club Jammu, Kartar Public School Kathua, General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board-Katra & J&K Police Club, Jammu participated in the Championship.
The chief guest on the occasion gave away the medals and certificates to the winners and participants.
A total of 16 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 13 bronze medals were won by the shooters in U/15, U/18, U/21 and Open Categories.
DPS Jammu students Divyansh & Ojasvini brought laurels to the school by winning gold and silver medals respectively.
The young singers of DPS Jammu presented a soulful patriotic song, while the young dancers of the institution presented classical dance dedicated to goddess Durga symbolizing women emancipation.
The cultural items put together by Jai Paul Gill, Sheetal Chalotra and Sanjeet Mehra were well appreciated by the audience.
The guest of honour, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal expressed happiness on the successful completion of the 9th J&K Rifle Shooting Championship.
He also congratulated all the winners, organizers and authorities of DPS Jammu who made all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event.
He also called upon the shooters to take advantage of the World Class Shooting Ranges available in the state and hoped that the participating shooters will bring glory to the state in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and other International Championships in future.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest highly appreciated the authorities of J&K Rifle Association & DPS Jammu for holding the 9th J&K Rifle Shooting Championship successfully.
He also lauded the efforts of the winners for their good show.
He urged upon the educational institutions to inculcate the Yoga & Meditation in their curriculum to help students in focussing and concentration.
The vote of thanks was presented by Treasurer, J&K Rifle Association, SS Sodhi.
He specially thanked the Chairman, J&K Rifle Association and Director General of Police, J&K State, Dilbag Singh for boosting the morale of young shooters by patting and promoting them.
The programme ended with the National Anthem.
