6th J&K State Handball Championship begins

JAMMU, Mar 15: The 6th J&K State Handball Championship began at MA Stadium in both senior men and women section here today.
The Championship is being organized by J&K Handball Association, under the chairmanship of Ashwani Kumar Raina, General Secretary, J&K Handball Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council.
Hazi Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer was the chief guest on the occasion and SSP Ranjit Singh Chib was the guest of honour in the opening ceremony.
About 150 players of the different districts of the State, J&K Police and STC are taking part in the tournament.
The first match in men’s section was played between District Kathua and District Baramulla in which Baramulla won by 16-11 goals.
The 2nd match in men’s section was played between District Poonch and District Bandipora in which Poonch defeated Bandipora by 10-3 goals.
The 3rd match in men’s section was played between District Budgam and District Jammu in which Jammu defeated Budgam by 13- 4 goals.
In other matches of men’s section, J&K Police defeated Budgam by 11- 3 goals, J&K Police defeated Bandipora by 13- 0 goal, STC defeated Kathua by 13- 6 goals and Udhampur defeated Kupwara by 5- 1 goals.
