Srinagar, Mar 17: Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Shah Faesal today launched his own political party, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement inside Sports Council Football Ground at Rajbagh.
Faesal addressing a rally of his workers said that as a mainstream party they can only facilitate the peaceful resolution of Kashmir. “As mainstream party we can only facilitate peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue which ultimately has to come from New Delhi and Islamabad,” he said. Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement also released a vision document at its launch.
The manifesto says the party will attempt to bring about sustainable peace in the State by making the people politically empowered, economically prosperous, socially emancipated, ethically evolved, culturally enlightened and environmentally conscious.
Faesal said that women are the worst sufferers of Kashmir conflict and that they should join his party. He said that the youngsters should be allowed to express dissent and raise voice against human rights violations. He said that his party will fight for these rights.
Activist Shehla Rashid was among the people who joined the party today. Faesal said that his party would seek adequate political representation for under-represented communities like Buddhists, Sikhs, Christians and Kashmiri Pandits.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement also promised to revive neglected traditions like Dogra community art, Buddhist heritage and other folk traditions.
