KATHUA, Mar 17: Former Minister and DCC Kathua president, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has alleged that BJP Govt has proved as heap of fake promises and ‘Jumlas’.
While addressing public meeting at Chadwal in district Kathua today, Sharma lambasted BJP for its new slogan “Main Bhi Chowkidar” by saying that more than 3000 ceasefire violations have taken place in which nearly 1400 civilians and security personnel have attained martyrdom in last 5 years. He said BJP leadership should feel ashamed for giving such slogans aimed at only gaining political mileage.
Referring to the issue of rehabilitation of cross border firing victims Dr Sharma said that BJP Government promised of 5 marlas plot each at safer places for the people residing along LoC and IB but today people are waiting for the same as promised by the BJP Government. He said kith and kin of those who have died in cross border firing are still waiting for compensation, neither they have been provided the job, nor 5 marlas plots at safe places by the Government.
Sharma further said that the most affected people during the BJP regime are the farmers. He said costs of seeds and feed has gone high and there is no proper system of procurement but on the contrary, farmers are not getting adequate MSP for the crops.
DCC chief appealed the people to participate in upcoming electoral process in the State and ensure victory of Congress candidates by voting for them.
Speaking on the occasion, ex- MLC and Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh said that people of district Kathua have suffered most due to the bad governance and anti-people, anti- youth policies of the BJP Government. He said youth is feeling dejected and betrayed as no new employment opportunity has been provided to them.
He said once Congress comes back to power utmost preference will be given in providing employment, relief and basic facilities to the people of the district and also to those residing on border and Kandi areas of the district.
During the function Kewal Singh Jasrotia (State gen secy) BSP also joined Congress and showed faith in policies and ideology of the Congress party.
Thakur Balbir Singh (MLC), Subash Gupta (ex- MLC), Girdhari Lal Chalotra (ex- MLA) and Prem Lal (ex- MLA) also spoke on the occasion.
