NEW DELHI: India on Thursday said it is aware of a draft initiated for consideration of the UN Security Council members to list JeM chief Masood Azhar in the sanctions regime as part of international community’s efforts to fight against terrorism.
However, the Government has said it will not be appropriate for India to comment “at this stage on a process which is entirely within the parameters of informal discussion of the Council and its members”.
“We are aware that a draft has been initiated for consideration of Council members to list Masood Azhar in the sanctions regime as part of international community’s efforts to fight against terrorism,” an official source said.
The US, according to media reports and also Chinese spokesman, has bypassed the 1267 Committee and directly filed the draft resolution to the Security Council. (AGENCIES)
