JAMMU, Mar 29: On the second day of the ongoing 10th Natrang Theatre Fest to celebrate Natrang’s 35 glorious years, the theatre group here today staged comedy play ‘Lottery Ka Ticket’ written by Showkat Thanvi and directed by Neeraj Kant.
On this occasion, Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur said that Natrang has created a record by showcasing 40 different plays in eleven months.
The play is a story of one ‘Munshi Ji’ who buys a lottery ticket and is consumed by the idea of winning it. He resigns from his job as he thinks that he is going to be rich.
His wife and brother on the other hand are apprehensive about all this. They try to warn him about his doings but seeing his enthusiasm they are also pulled in the fantasy Munshi Ji is living in.
These hopes are scattered when the true reality bites in. The play also tells us about the harrowing distress that lack of money or material wealth can have on a family. The play ends with a hilarious note when Munshi Ji’s sister-in-law dies but he is still obsessed with the idea of getting the lottery.
The artists who participated in the play were Manoj Kumar Lalotra, Sushant Singh Charak, Vanshika Gupta and Udit Sagar. Lights were executed by Ajay Kumar Lalotra and music by Aarti Devi. The presentation was done by Deepali Sharma and the show was coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
