JAMMU, Mar 29: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized a University level workshop of KVKs in order to finalize the Annual Action Plan of Krishi Vigyan Kendras in Jammu region. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr K S Risam, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu. In his address, Dr Risam elaborated the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras for bringing a positive change in the lives of farmers. He reiterated the directions of Governor Satya Pal Malik and Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu to strengthen Krishi Vigyan Kendras of the University for arranging extension activities, including Kisan Melas at village level. He expressed satisfaction over the efforts made by KVKs in extending outreach in every nook and corner of Jammu region.
Dr J P Sharma, Director Research, appreciated the efforts of Directorate of Extension to organize such workshops for exchange of technologies between KVKs and research units of the University. He extended full support of his Directorate to improve the annual action plan of KVKs for 2019-20.
Dr D P Abrol, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, elaborated the technologies available with his faculty for demonstrations on farmers’ fields. Dr M M S Zama, Dean, FVSc & AH, R S Pura suggested to plan the schedule of Veterinary Camps in advance for better implementation of programmes.
Earlier, Dr R K Arora, Associate Director Extension (KVKs) explained the rationale behind the organization of University level workshop of KVKs.
Among others, Dr Amrish Vaid, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Kathua and Dr Vikas Tandon, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Jammu presented the Annual Action Plans of their respective KVKs. Heads of various divisions from Faculty of Agriculture and FVSc & AH, R S Pura provided technical inputs for modification in action plans as per the requirement of farmers in Jammu region.
