JAMMU, Mar 29: Ramsoo, Gangyal, Bahu Fort and Gangyal police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw and heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramsoo Police Station laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02BK-5758.
During checking, police team recovered 105 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in five bags and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Yog Raj Batwal, son of Satpaul Batwal, a resident of Tanda, Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu.
During preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that he had bought the consignment from Sangam area and was meant for selling among the youth in Jammu and Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 36/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered by Ramsoo Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramsoo Inspector Javeed Iqbal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, on reliable information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka near Sehora Bridge and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CB-9688 coming from Bandhu Rakh towards Sehore.
During checking, police team recovered 10 grams heroin from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Amrik Singh, son of Sat Pal Singh, a resident of Bandhu Rakh Kunjwani.
On further questioning, the accused disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Srinagar for selling among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu city.
A case under FIR Number 26 /19 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh.
In another similar incident, on credible information, a team from Bahu Fort Police Station led by SHO Pervaz Sajjad laid a naka and intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle.
During checking, police team recovered 70 to 80 grams heroin from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Gow Kadal, Srinagar.
A case under FIR Number 85/19 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Bahu Fort Police Station and investigation started.
However, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station led by SHO Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia under the supervision of SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani laid a naka near Ware House and intercepted a car bearing registration number JK02BQ-2156.
During checking, police team recovered 10 grams heroin from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Varinder Singh alias DP, son of Amrik Singh of Lower Gadigarh District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 84/19 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
