PHE employees demand release of pending wages before Baisakhi

UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: A meeting of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association Udhampur and Reasi districts was held here at PHE Complex, wherein the speakers highlighted various demands including release of pending wages of PHE workers.
The meeting, which was chaired by senior vice-president of the Association for Jammu province, Som Nath, unanimously criticized the attitude of the State Government towards workers who have no wages for last five years. He appealed Governor SP Malik to intervene personally so that PHE workers’ wages are released before Baiksakhi Festival.
Various other demands of the Association including meeting shortage of staff in the department, change of designation of workers as per nature of working, holding DPC in Mechanical Division Udhampur as the same has not been conducted there till date, were also discussed threadbare.
Som Nath also demanded the Government to implement SRO 520 at the earliest and speed up the process of regularization of casual labour. Stating that the imprest workers in the department are not getting wages, he sought enquiry as who engaged these workers and why their record has not been maintained.
He appealed the united front of PHE Department of Jammu province to go for ‘Pani Bandh’ for at least 72 hours if the agreement made on March 27 is not fulfilled within a time frame.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Vijay Kumar, Baldev Raj, Jagdish Raj, Chuni Lal, Suraj Parkash, Prabu Lal, Balbir Singh, Prem Nath, Shamboo Dutt, Karan Singh, Vidya Ram, Sandokh Chand and Amit Dubey.
