NMC for declaring ‘May Day’ as gazetted holiday

JAMMU, Apr 4: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare ‘May Day’ as a gazetted holiday throughout the country.
“We urge the Prime Minister to declare ‘May Day’ as a gazetted holiday throughout the country Under Negotiable Instrument Act as a befitting tribute to May Day martyrs and recognizing the valuable contribution of the working class in the all-round development of the country” said NMC president Subhash Shastri while addressing a workers’ meet here.
Shastri said because of the May Day martyrs, the working class got their rights throughout the world and India being the largest and most vibrant democracy across the globe and frontline welfare country should also declare May 1 as gazetted holiday. He said that this will be a great gesture and will fulfill the most genuine and long-pending demands of the working class.
