SRINAGAR, Apr 5: Amid public outrage against the curbs on movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national Highway twice a week, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today clarified that patients, students, tourists and others in emergency will be allowed to move after scrutiny.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference here, Khan said for spontaneous emergencies, phone numbers will be shared at district level so that people can talk to nodal officers immediately and travel on the highway. Similarly, he said, tourist vehicles will be allowed to move after due scrutiny while people, who have to travel to airport, their tickets will be checked and allowed to move.
The Divisional Commissioner, who was flanked by IGP Kashmir SP Pani, said that concerned Deputy Commissioners have been asked to collect the details of schools, hospitals and nursing homes which fall on National Highway.
Khan said that the students, teachers, doctors and other staff will be provided the passes and their vehicles will be allowed to move.
